Sri Lanka
A whole exotic and fascinating adventure awaits you in this far eastern country. Situated off the southeastern tip of India in the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka is a tropical island that comes close to being a paradise. It’s a land of ‘never winter’ where blue ocean waters wash beautiful sandy beaches the color of gold.
One of the fabled Spice Islands, Sri Lanka, was visited by Arab traders, Chinese merchants, and European explorers searching for rare spices. Sri Lankan food is a highlight of the destination and an excellent showcase of this riches, and Ceylon tea will take you back to colonial periods and help you get in close contact with the local culture.
The architectural heritage of Sri Lanka, comprising temples, cities, monasteries, and palaces, are some of the most impressive ever made by humans, and, gladly, they have been carefully restored and preserved.

Time and Weather
Like in other tropical nations, Rainfall in Sri Lanka falls mainly in the form of downpours or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. The rainfall has two peaks: the first, in April and May, only impacts the southwest and interior, while the second, from October to December, hit the whole nation owing to the retreating monsoon. The southwest monsoon persists from May to September.
Temperatures are high throughout the year, although there is a more significant contrast between the winter months from December to february and the pre-monsoon season, from March to May when compared to the south.

The best time to visit
The best time to visit Sri Lanka varies on where you want to travel in the nation. It’s a year-round location with a constant warmth and plenty of sunlight, with average temperatures ranging from 31°C to 22°C. It is usually hotter at the shore and in the lowlands than it is further up. Rainfall may occur at any time of day or night.
The southwest coast is ideal between December and April before the monsoon season begins. In contrast, the east and north are less humid between May and September, after the monsoon season.
The central highlands are cooler all year and should only be avoided in October and November when the rainfall is less dependable.

Wildlife
The country’s significant animal attractions include the leopard, elephant, sloth bear, blue whale, and sperm whale. These are a few of the many wild kinds of animals found throughout the country. It is also a birder’s paradise, with a broad range of endemic, migratory, and resident avifauna in its 70 Important Bird Areas scattered over its varied topography. Sri Lanka is also well-known for its diverse flora.
Among the various natural attractions in the area, none have elicited as much astonishment as those relating to the world’s largest terrestrial mammal — the elephant. Sri Lanka has the world’s most significant seasonally recurring population of wild elephants. The Gathering occurs at the country’s Minneriya National Park, which is known worldwide for being one of the best places to see elephant herds and observe their behavior.
