Itinerary in Brief

Day 1 

Arrive Cuiaba

Your flight will have you arriving in Cuiaba, Brazil, in the afternoon, where you will be met and greeted by your Senior Leader. Transfer
to Hotel Deville Prime. We will have free time to relax or enjoy the hotel facilities. Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 2

The Transpantaneira and Wildlife Encounters

Start your expedition into the heart of the Panatanal by driving four hours on the iconic Transpantaneira road, marveling at its 90-mile stretch through wetlands. Encounter diverse wildlife, from yacare caimans to capybaras. Stay at Mato Grosso Pantanal Hotel , conveniently located at the Pixam River, probably the best spot in the world to observe Giant River Otters.

Day 3

Giant Otters Boat Search and the Drive to Porto Jofre
Enjoy an early am boat ride looking for Giant River Otters that abound at the Pixam River. Then return to your hotel for breakfast and later continue your adventure on the Transpantaneira to Porto Jofre, the Pantanal’s vibrant heart. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route and settle into Porto Jofre Hotel. Explore the surrounding wildlife, followed by a review of the day’s encounters by your Senior Leader, culminating in a delightful dinner at Porto Jofre Lodge, your home until day 6.

Day 4 – 6

Jaguar Search & the ‘Big Six’

Nestled at the confluence of the Cuiaba, Três Irmãos, and Piquiri Rivers, Porto Jofre Lodge offers unparalleled access to Jaguar territory. With a 95% chance of sightings, enjoy private boat excursions led by a Senior Leader, maximizing opportunities for wildlife encounters. Explore diverse fauna, including ocelots and anaconda, and all the South America ‘Big-6’.

Day 7

On to Araras Eco Lodge Private Reserve for Top Class Birding

Embark on a thrilling journey after breakfast, driving the Transpantaneira to Araras Eco Lodge, arriving for lunch. Following check-in, your guide leads a birding expedition on the lodge grounds, showcasing an impressive array of birds, from spinetails to hyacinth macaws.

Day 8 & 9

Araras Private Reserve Wildlife Exploration

Explore the Araras Lodge, a premier birding destination nestled in a 7,500-acre private nature preserve with wetlands, savanna, and forest ecosystems. Encounter capuchin, howler, and marmoset monkeys during vehicle trips. Nocturnal expeditions unveil elusive wildlife like tapirs and potoos. DAY 10

Drive to Cuiaba and Fly Back Home, or Continue with the Southern Pantanal Extension

Enjoy a final wildlife expedition in the morning before having lunch and then returning to Cuiaba to catch the flights back home. For those yearning for more, extend your adventure to the Southern Pantanal.

Porto Jofre Lodge

You will find that despite its remote location in the heart of the Pantanal that the Porto Jofre Lodge provides comfortable accommodations.
