Itinerary in Brief

When you arrive, someone will help you check into your accommodation.

Overnight at Rivertrees Country Inn (No meals).

Day 2 & 3
Tarangire National Park

Before going downstairs for breakfast, awake to view Mt. Meru this morning and drive to Tarangire National Park, after breakfast, you will enter the park and begin a game drive on your way to your camp after completing the paperwork at the gate, arriving in time for lunch.

After lunch, unwind in camp as you wait for the sun to set before going on a game drive. When you return to camp, tell stories around the campfire before dinner and go to bed.

Within Tanzania’s breathtaking Manyara Region, Tarangire National Park is a breathtaking national park with granite mountains, river basins, diversified vegetal landscapes, and wandering wildlife. The Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife during the yearly dry season. Predators naturally follow large herds of elephants, migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and eland. Since lions are among the most often sighted animals, it is uncommon for tourists to fail to see this majestic animal munching or prowling. Tarangire is the only location in Tanzania where dry-country antelope-like oryx and gerenuk are frequently sighted. In addition, this vast region is renowned for its magnificent baobab trees, breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe, and the magnificent mountains to the south.

You will leave after receiving an early wake-up call to spend the entire day in the Tarangire National Park, including a picnic lunch. Return to the camp in the evening for dinner and beverages.

Overnight at Honey Guide Tarangire (B, L, D).

Day 4 & 5

Karatu

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive after breakfast, packing lunch boxes along the way. You will leave the park when it’s convenient for you and travel to your lodging. You will be helped with check-in upon arrival before being brought to your accommodation.

The village of Karatu is located in the verdant hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands and is a stopping point for travelers traveling to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. This tiny, colorful hamlet, dominated by the massive Ol Deani Volcano, is a well-liked overnight stop for tourists to see the numerous game parks in the region. There are many things to do in the town, such as perusing the crowded market, trying some beer at a nearby brewery, touring a traditional farm, or going on a guided tour into the Ngorongoro Forest to look for waterfalls and caves. This underappreciated town has a lot to offer, whether you’re looking for cultural excursions, hiking and bicycling options, the ability to experience rural Tanzanian life firsthand, or simply a pause between safari game drives.

Get up early and head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with lunch boxes to make the most of your day at the Ngorongoro Crater. Before it gets dark, head back to your lodge, so you have time to freshen yourself before supper.

Day 6, 7 & 8

Ntudu

After breakfast and check-in, leave with a packed lunch for the Southern Serengeti National Park. Once the paperwork is completed at the entry, you will enter the park for a game drive. In the evening, you will leave the park and drive to your camp for dinner and the night.

Ndutu is located in the spectacular Serengeti within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is part of the Arusha Region. Thousands of wildebeest, antelope, and zebra use the adjacent grasslands as their migratory route since they are the ideal habitat for these animals. The woodland surrounding Lake Ndutu may be explored, a variety of fauna can be seen, and the Olduvai Gorge is a fascinating archaeological site. Don’t pass up the chance to go on a game drive to see the magnificent herds of the Great Migration, take a beautiful hot air balloon ride over the plains, or go on a guided tour with the Maasai community to learn about their culture and traditions. Other frequently sighted animals include the leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, serval, African wildcat, and a wide range of colorful birds.

Enjoy a full day by taking Serengeti National Park’s morning and evening wildlife drives. Enjoy peaceful evenings around the campfire, the exclusivity of unsurpassed comfort, and the authenticity of a night spent in the African bush, an unforgettable experience for all nature enthusiasts.

Make the most of the wildlife viewing as the sun rises on your third day in the Southern Serengeti. Spend the day in the bush looking for a game and taking in everything the beautiful park offers by ordering a picnic for breakfast or lunch. Dinner is served later at camp, and evening drinks around the campfire are a great chance to reflect on the day’s activities.

Overnight at Nyikani Migration Park (B, L, D).

Day 9 & 10
Seronera

After breakfast and check-out, move leisurely toward the central Serengeti region while game-viewing. Upon arrival at the Nyikani Central Camp, you will be led to Reception, where you will receive a brief safari orientation before being shown to your tent.

The Seronera district in the center of the Serengeti is on the path of the Great Migration. It provides superb sight of this amazing yearly phenomenon when numerous wildebeests flood the area and migrate over the plains. Seronera remains a wildlife hotspot at other times of the year, protecting the Big Five in addition to many other species, even if migratory game numbers vary seasonally.

Take the morning and evening game drives in Serengeti National Park to make the most of your entire day. Enjoy tranquil campfire evenings, unrivaled comfort, and the authenticity of a night spent in the African bush—a truly unforgettable experience for all nature lovers.

The distance from the park entrance gate to this camp within the park is only 15 minutes. It is situated in a tranquil, uninhabited location abundant in wildlife, with many game-watching trails and simple access to the lower Tarangire valley. Due to the nearby Acacia-studded grasslands, you don’t need to travel far to enjoy the plentiful local wildlife before ending the day with stunning sunsets. There are just ten strategically located tents in the small, cozy camp, all of which may be expanded into triples and quadruples. This eco-friendly camp provides plumbing to each tent, solar hot water throughout the day, and 24-hour power.

The exquisite lodge perfectly complements the unmatched natural splendor of the area. The vitality of songbirds, old trees, and magnificent coffee bushes emit a timeless peace.

The Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks are on one side of Acacia Farm Lodge, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park are on the other. This advantageous location makes Acacia Farm Lodge the ideal starting point to explore these renowned reserves and take advantage of the many other exciting activities and impressive cultural experiences available in the neighborhood.

Nyikani Migration Camp

The wildebeest migration passes in and out of the Ndutu region from December to March. Just south of Serengeti National Park, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, is where you’ll find Ndutu. The top game viewing locations near Lakes Ndutu and Masek are conveniently located near Nyikani Migration Camps. In addition to the nearly two million zebra and wildebeest that pass through the region annually, cheetah, lion, giraffe, and hundreds of bird species call Ndutu home. The wildebeest have 8,000 babies born each day in February during the calving season.

Nyikani Camp Central Serengueti

The Serengeti is Tanzania’s most well-known national park and the location of the highest densities of large mammals on earth. Nyikani Camp Central is situated in the center of the Serengeti, taking advantage of the year-round wildlife. In quest of fresh grass and water, migratory herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles travel vast distances. The Maasai word “Siringet,” which means “endless plains,” is the source of the name Serengeti. These rolling plains of short grass offer a superb landscape for animal watching, making it the ideal safari destination.

When to go

Depending on the species you hope to see, there is no optimal time to travel to Tanzania. Depending on when you decide to visit, you’ll have a slightly different experience because the rainfall determines the country’s seasons and wildlife populations.

The Great Migration, which occurs annually across the Serengeti, is Tanzania’s main draw. Between July and September, many visitors come here to see the enormous herds of zebra and wildebeest cross the Mara River, trying to avoid the lurking crocodiles and other predators. At this time of year, though, the park will be filled with vehicles.

Tanzania’s “green season” between November and March is significantly more sedate. Although there is a potential for showers, this is a great time to go birdwatching because thousands of migrating species are arriving. Herds from the Great Migration and their just-born calves are also visible.

Only between April and May, when heavy rains can interfere with animal viewing, do we typically steer clear of Tanzania.
